Todd Twining, Master’s Level Clinical Intern

Practicing Since 2023

Todd’s focus in therapy is to create a welcoming and understanding atmosphere where clients feel safe to share what they are experiencing. His passion is for people to feel their story matters and that they are heard and supported with no judgment. He enjoys helping clients consider new perspectives and ideas so they can collaborate on strategies, coping techniques, and fresh skills. His favorite treatment modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy.

When it comes to mental health care, Todd’s philosophy is that meaningful collaboration between the counselor and the client is an important part of the therapeutic process. It allows the client to gain a renewed and restored sense of self. Clients should feel heard and that their concerns matter, experiencing a space to be both safe and brave. Being able to emote, heal and gain the confidence to move forward is a vital part of mental health care.

Todd is currently in his final year of graduate school pursuing a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling. His greatest passion is to listen and help others find meaning and purpose in their lives. He has experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and enjoys working with all ages and has interests in neuroscience and trauma.

As musician and educator, Todd realized during the recent COVID-19 pandemic that he could use his passion for people, music, and education to make a difference in the field of mental health.

During his downtime, Todd and his family enjoy life with their dog, Red, being outside in the beauty of nature, and playing old fashioned board games. His favorite hobbies are learning new languages and roasting coffee beans.

Todd is under the clinical supervision of Jessica Ives, LCPC (MD License #LC2578).
