Jeanie Chang, Resident in Counseling

Practicing since: 2024
Jeanie Chang graduated from The College of William and Mary with a Master’s of Education degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Inspired by her time as a special education teacher and working within the District of Columbia Public Schools connecting families to special education resources, she was inspired to obtain clinical tools to help individuals process trauma. Through her role as a children’s ministries program director, she walked alongside families experiencing grief, loss, and ongoing challenges. Jeanie found consistency in each experience, calling her to pursue mental health counseling.
Jeanie is trained in Internal Family Systems with a focus in trauma and is pursuing EMDR, Gottman, and DBT certification and implements this expertise in treatment with clients. She takes a person-centered approach to counseling that emphasizes partnership. Jeanie collaborates with her clients to thoughtfully determine a path toward healing, utilizing various therapeutic modalities as appropriate.
Clients will experience compassion, curiosity, and genuineness during treatment with Jeanie. Motivated by her upbringing, Jeanie strives to create a space where individuals from immigrant and AAPI backgrounds feel seen, validated, and supported without having to justify their experiences. Her goal is to provide culturally humble, accessible care that honors both the strengths and struggles of immigrant communities, while helping to reduce stigma and expand pathways to healing.
Jeanie Chang, Resident in Counseling, is licensed in the state of Virginia (#0704017783) and under the clinical supervision of Stacey Crosson, LMFT (#0717001506).
