Practicing Since: 2018
Sherlandra has experience working with diverse clientele from a wide range of different ages, races, cultures, and problematic types. She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of different mental health settings. Sherlandra uses a client-centered approach being mindful that each person has different needs to address their concerns, but also recognizing that you are the expert on you. She seeks to integrate Eclectic counseling ideas that are evidence-based such as CBT, play therapy, developmental theories, and spirituality to address important issues and behaviors discovered along the therapeutic journey.
Sherlandra has a Master degree from Loyola University specializing in Pastoral counseling. She is currently licensed in Maryland as a Professional Counselor. Sherlandra has specialized in Pastoral counseling because she recognizes how important spirituality can be to an individual and she believes it is her job to understand the unique experiences of each person she works with. Sherlandra approaches individuals as the storyteller of their own lives. This approach to therapy is to focus on the individual, helping them feel comfortable and accepted in order to begin to cope and heal from issues that are problematic or holding them back from being the best version of themselves. She seeks to help individuals have more fulfilling lives. Often, we find that life’s events and transitions can be hard to manage and cope with. Depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, and other mental health conditions impact how individuals experience life. Sherlandra seeks to help individuals who feel stuck and want to change unhealthy patterns of behavior by helping individuals build confidence, resilience, and acceptance in order to be able to move forward and reach their full potential in life. She is present to support individuals and empower them to embrace change, promote inner peace, and create the life they want to live. Her treatment focus is to be supportive and promote personal growth by fostering the strengths an individual already possesses while challenging them to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that have held them back. Sherlandra provides a safe nonjudgmental, compassionate environment that invites you to be open and share your story. She meets clients where they are, honoring the importance of the therapeutic relationship and recognizing that it is a privilege to be invited into your story.
Sherlandra is licensed in the state of Maryland #LC10544.
