Shawntay Fenyo Woods, LCPC

Practicing since: 2017

Shawntay Fenyo Woods graduated from Capella University with a Doctorate degree in Philosophy and from Bowie State University with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. She was inspired to become a mental health counselor by the opportunity to support individuals as they navigate meaningful change in their lives. She is continually encouraged by the resilience people demonstrate, even in the face of significant challenges. Shawntay is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to grow and achieve their goals.

Shawntay specializes in trauma-informed care and is actively pursuing the Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) credential. She integrates evidence-based interventions with a client-centered, solution-focused approach to support adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and life transitions. Shawntay helps clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted gain clarity, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. Her work emphasizes emotional regulation, cognitive restructuring, and strengths-based interventions.

Clients can expect warm, collaborative, and goal-oriented sessions with Shawntay. She strives to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being open and honest while also receiving guidance and gentle challenge when appropriate. Shawntay believes that life is not meant to be lived in isolation and that we are wired for connection, support, and shared experiences. She values authenticity, collaboration, and accountability, recognizing that meaningful growth happens through connection, reflection, and compassionate guidance.
