“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.” – Desmond Tutu
Kathryn “Kate” Marcus graduated from Loyola University with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her passion for counseling was inspired by the ever-evolving understanding of mental health and the many ways knowledge, experience, and evidence-based approaches can help people create healthier, more fulfilling lives. Kate believes that every person has a unique story and is committed to helping clients better understand themselves while building practical tools for lasting emotional wellness.
Kate is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors. She has a particular interest in working with individuals with ADHD, especially women and adults who receive a diagnosis later in life. Kate also has experience helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions, recognizing how these challenges often intersect and influence one another.
Kate strives to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients can let go of external expectations, reconnect with their authentic selves, and explore the deeper roots of their struggles. She collaborates with clients in every aspect of the counseling process, from establishing goals to assessing the effectiveness of interventions in supporting their progress. Kate emphasizes manageable, realistic steps toward change while helping clients move beyond perfectionism and all-or-nothing thinking.
