Greg Kessler, LPC, MAPC, CCS, CAADC

Practicing Since: 2005

Greg’s approach to counseling is rooted in the belief that everyone has the ability to make changes and healthy decisions for themselves. Greg doesn’t judge or give advice, his job is to counsel, educate, and listen with precision to empower his clients to make the best choices based on their values. Greg feels it is key to develop rapport through an atmosphere of trust and safety as well as clarity and being forthright. As a Christian, Greg believes personal insight is revealed by the Holy Spirit when the client is ready to receive it and he plays a small role in helping them take the next few steps in their personal journey. Greg believes the counseling space is sacred as the client allows permission for him to walk alongside them in the counseling process.

Greg is a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as certified as a Clinical Supervisor and Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor through the state of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Messiah College with a degree in Sociology and from Moravian Theological Seminary in 2005 with a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling. Greg has extensive experience treating addiction and is a certified practitioner and trainer in Motivational Interviewing.

Professionally, Greg serves as the Executive Director of Health Services for Water Street Mission.  He is responsible for the operation of Water Street’s medical, dental and behavioral health clinics.  Prior to serving at Water Street, Greg was a member of the treatment team at Caron Treatment Centers for close to 20 years. Greg served in several areas at Caron specializing in adult treatment issues for chemical addiction as a counselor and supervisor. His work also focused on education and counseling for couples and families.

In January of 2013, Greg became the Director of Education and Training for Caron’s PA campus, responsible for the oversight and coordination all staff training requirements.  He regularly speaks regionally at seminaries, churches, businesses, and institutions conducting education seminars on addiction.

Greg is active in his local church and when spare time avails itself, he enjoys being with his family, reading, bicycling or oil painting outdoors. Raised outside of Philadelphia, Greg and his wife Jenifer now reside in Lancaster County, PA raising their three children.

Greg is licensed in the state of Pennsylvania #PC007522.
