Practicing Since: 2019
Ruth believes in the resilience present within each client, and utilizes gentleness and commitment to aid them in their search for healing. Ruth understands that we are only able to tell our truest stories within a context of genuine safety. She strives to ensure that context as she works with clients to move them through their wounds and into wholeness.
Ruth enjoys connecting with children and teens, and is also drawn to the work that can be done with adults. Ruth is somewhat eclectic in her therapeutic mindset, as each client she meets is uniquely complex and is attended to as such. However, she is interested in schematic therapy, as well as emotionally focused therapy. She also allows Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy to inform her work.
In the past, Ruth has served individuals coping with mental illness, as well as substance abuse issues. She has conducted numerous therapeutic groups, family therapy sessions, and individual sessions, all within the psychiatric unit of a hospital. Prior to that, she completed an internship at Hyland Heights Baptist church, a location that allowed her to work with both adults and adolescents. She has also had experience assisting troubled adolescents living in residential treatment facilities.
Ruth is recently married and lives in Reston, VA, with her husband. Ruth is a graduate of Liberty University.
