Venus Stewart, PhD, LCPC

Workshop will offer special insight into the challenges facing and opportunities available to African-American couples.

Venus RW Stewart, PhD, LCPC has a strong passion for empowering individuals, couples, and families in strategies to maximize their personal relationships with God and see the rewards of these efforts in every aspect of their lives. Venus is an ordained minister who has served in various capacities of ministry including as an elder/associate pastor; Bible School instructor; counselor; and women's and family minister. In this regard, Venus is extremely grateful to follow in the legacy of her family as ministers and servants for over 100 years. She is deeply committed to help build Christian leaders, both inside and outside the walls of the traditional church. She has been actively involved in community development, mentoring and counseling with a primarily faith-based focus for over 40 years; her first formal experience was as a youth worker with the Neighborhood Youth Corps in Baltimore City at the age of 13. She is an experienced community development corporation leader and successfully-funded grant writer.

Venus holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Christian Counseling and is a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor (Advanced), and prefers to utilize the Arno Temperament Profile® to assist persons in the journey of understanding their unique God-given temperament; doing so allows one to learn to maximize his/her individual strengths and minimize individual weaknesses while appreciating others' differences and preferences in their interpersonal relationships. She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Clinical Community Counseling from the Johns Hopkins University which she completed to satisfy the educational requirements for her first State license. She is currently completing clinical hours required to apply for licensing as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in Maryland. As a seasoned HR professional of over 30 years, specializing in recruitment and examination issues, Venus offers keen insight to persons interested in exploring employment and career issues in a clinical setting.

Venus is married to Raymond Stewart, Jr., also an ordained minister. Together they parent four grown children, two of whom are married, and are the proud grandparents of Zoe Amani Matthews and Alexander Stewart. Two of Venus' greatest joys are in knowing that God so loved her that He gave His Only Begotten Son, Jesus the Christ, to save her from a certain death, and that because of His great sacrifice, she can totally delight in watching her own children and grandchildren and heirs to come as they walk in this knowledge as their own personal truth, while sharing this precious experience with her husband.
