Joy Sam
Joy Sam has completed University of Maryland Law School, a Juris Doctor (JD), with a Certificate in Conflict Resolution. She is a mediator for Howard County Circuit Court and Baltimore City Circuit Court Division for Juvenile Cases. Joy served as an Asper Fellows, with the Maryland Commission on Human Relations, as a co-mediator for discrimination cases for the state of Maryland for age, gender, disability, and race. Joy has spoken at national conferences to multiple audiences in the business and public arena.
She is the Chief Executive Officer of Divine Fellowship, LLC, an organization created with her husband to mediate and help couples with relationship skills, parenting skills, financial management, conflict resolution, and career advancement. She served as a Facilitator with Building Strong Families, Loving Couples, Loving Children Curriculum. Joy has also received certification for Court-Appointed Lawyers Representing Children in Cases Involving Child Custody or Child Access. She is married and the mother of three children.
Joy is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of experience in government, public, and private accounting. She worked with the federal government for six years at the Department of Health & Human Services as an Accountant with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She received multiple promotions, numerous monetary and time-off awards. She served as team-leader to her division, worked on national policies, and served as a Special Assistant to the Group Director. Her most recent position was as a Budget Analyst for $150 million budget with the Administration for Children & Families, Office of Family Assistance for the Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood Initiative in Washington, D.C.
She graduated with honors from Morgan State University as an accounting major. Joy graduated from Western High School as the Outstanding Business Student. Joy worked with her parents while completing her studies at the former Micah's Cafeteria, a leading soul food business in the Baltimore Area. She worked at the Black & Decker Headquarters as an accounting intern and began her accounting/auditing career with Price-Waterhouse Coopers.
