Stephen Capecci, M.A., NCC
Steve Capecci is a Nationally Certified Counselor who received his Master's Degree in school counseling from Loyola College in Maryland. He has worked for the past five years as a School Counselor in Baltimore County at the elementary and middle school levels. As a school counselor, Steve works with children, adolescents, families and members of the community in order to help students be more successful in their lives and at school. Before working as a counselor, Steve worked with students aged 6-21 with moderate to severe Autism at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. He has worked for Safe Harbor since Summer 2009.
At Safe Harbor, In addition to working with children and adolescents, Steve also works with adults and families. Steve’s dog Reese is his partner in therapy and has been screened and certified by the Delta Society as a dog safe and fit for use in animal assisted therapy (However, Reese does not have to be present during sessions). Steve is eclectic (one size does not fit all) and holistic (multiple facets—mind, body, spirit—that make up each individuals well being) in his approach to counseling. Based on his own personal journey, Steve desires to walk with his clients through their humble circumstances and brokenness to a place of hope and renewal—which can truly be achieved by understanding who we are in Jesus Christ.
Steve has experience with and is available for treatment in the following areas: Anxiety, depression, children and adults with AD/HD, bullying, learning problems, behavior difficulties, school success, children of divorce, parenting/discipline strategies, families with children that have developmental disabilities (e.g., Autism), social skills groups, and other therapeutic groups. He is also available for marriage and family counseling.
Steve is originally from Harford County, MD and presently resides in Dundalk, MD with his wife Deb, two loving, playful and therapeutic rescued pit bulls and two equally loving and playful cats. He attends Christian Community Church in White Marsh. His interests include spending time with his wife, hanging with his animals, cooking, working on his house, swing dancing, being outdoors, serving at church, saving up money for a Droid Bionic J and hanging out with friends and family.
