Michael Linn, M.Ed., NCC, LPC
is originally from Lancaster County and while living there, he worked from 2003 to 2009 in the mental health profession, with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. In 2009, Mike accepted the position of Director of Safe Harbor – South Central PA and relocated to Chambersburg, PA with his wife Orpha.
Mike is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and a Nationally Certified Counselor. He is also an active member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University in 2003 and his Master’s Degree from West Chester University in Secondary School Counseling in 2006. His experiences in the school setting include time spent at two different middle schools and high schools in Lancaster and Berks County.
Using an eclectic blend of therapeutic modalities, Mike endeavors to serve others by using proven clinical techniques, biblical counseling techniques, and Christ like compassion. Mike enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. He relies on attachment theory, cognitive-behavioral techniques, client-centered therapy, rational emotive therapy, and other techniques appropriate for each person. His goal is to help people with their individual and/or family issues, but to help people realize that true transformational change comes through the everlasting grace of God.
He believes that the role of the Christian therapist should be as described in James 3:17, “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”
But, as with many other Christian counselors, Mike only uses scripture reading and prayer when the individual is ready and comfortable with it and ultimately wants to meet each person where they are emotionally and spiritually.
As director of Safe Harbor Christian Counseling of South Central PA, Mike is hopeful to expand this counseling ministry and serve people in the Chambersburg, Carlisle and Gettysburg.
