Matthew S. Margaron, MA, LCPC, NCC

Matt is a licensed clinical professional counselor and nationally certified counselor who received his Masters in Counseling from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.  He has worked for seven years in the field of mental health treating diverse issues such as depression, ADHD, addiction, trauma, abuse, co-dependency, and anxiety.  He has experience working with individuals and families in residential treatment for at-risk youth, in-home counseling, private practice, and crisis management.  Matt specializes in working with young adults, teenagers, and their families on developmental, spiritual, and emotional issues.  He speaks regularly on adolescent issues to various churches in the greater Baltimore area.  He has also taught basic and advanced counseling skills and theories to church leaders and seminary students in Malaysia.  In addition to working at Safe Harbor, Matt is very involved in Harford County Young Life and leads a young adult church small group out of his home with his wife, Eli. 

Matt is originally from Naperville, Illinois and attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan where he graduated with his BA in Psychology and Religion.  After college, Matt moved to Colorado to work with at-risk youth and their families at the Dale House Project, a Christian ministry, and residential treatment center.  While at the Dale House Project and inspired by Isaiah 58, Matt realized the urgent need for hope and restoration in his own life and relationships.  Based on his own personal journey, Matt has an overwhelming desire to help provide hope, restoration, and renewal for broken individuals and relationships.

Matt’s other work and volunteer experiences include leading mission trips to Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in Jamaica, coaching soccer at Hope College, and coaching summer camps for inner city children and youth.  Matt’s other interests include spending quality time with his wife Eli and two daughters (Emma Adeline and Leah Hope), writing, exploring, reading a good book, and traveling.  The highlights of his travels include playing soccer throughout Europe, studying multicultural studies and Psychology at Wollongong University in Australia, and mission trips to Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean.  His favorite authors include Brennan Manning, Donald Miller, John Eldredge, Henri Nouwen, and Dan Allender.
