Ellen Dumer, MS, LCPC
After much prompting, prayer and discernment, Ellen pursued a Master of Science degree in Pastoral Counseling at Loyola College of Maryland as a career change, graduating in 2005. She is licensed in the State of Maryland as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and an active member of the American Counseling Association and the American Association of Christian Counselors.
Ellen’s experience has allowed her to work with adults/adolescents in individual therapy with such issues as anxiety/depression, the life changes of the elderly; post abortion/early pregnancy loss with Rachel’s Vineyard, providing individual counseling and retreat team support and co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance abuse at the Johns Hopkins Hospital treatment center in Baltimore, MD. An especially fulfilling part of her practice is marital/couples/family therapy, in which she was trained at Lighthouse, Inc. in Catonsville, MD; she is also training in IMAGO relationship therapy. She believes that there are many lasting fruits harvested when couples and families invest in their relationship with each other and God. Ellen also enjoys providing coaching for personal development, whereby a client integrates their spirituality and life goals.
In addition to her work at Safe Harbor and Johns Hopkins, she maintains a private practice in Bel Air, Maryland and is actively involved in ministry with her husband Gary, an ordained deacon at St. Mary’s of the Assumption in Pylesville, MD. They have been married for 22 years and have 4 grown children and 2 grandchildren.
