David W. Swan Jr.
David has worked with Safe Harbor Christian Counseling since July of 2003, working primarily with adult clients, married couples, and families. David retired from employment with Verizon Communications Corporation, formerly Bell Atlantic Communications, on July 31, 2000 after 33 years of service. In his final position with Verizon he worked as Vice-President Wholesale Operations. During his career with Verizon, David worked in the areas of Human Resources, Information Systems, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing and Finance. Prior to joining Verizon, he served in the US Army for two years, leaving with the rank of First Lt. His military service included a one year tour in Vietnam.
David graduated from Morgan State University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and from George Washington University in 1983 with a Master of Science Degree in Information Systems. After retirement from Verizon, David enrolled as a full time student at the Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, Maryland. He completed a Master of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling and Discipleship in 2003. David is currently pursuing advanced studies in counseling to become certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
David is a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church of Edgemere, Maryland. At Shiloh he serves as Minister of Counseling and as the instructor for the Adult Sunday School Class and in the Shiloh Bible Academy. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the NAACP. He served on the Board of Directors of the Reginald F. Lewis Maryland Museum of African American History. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Community Ministries of Prince George's County.
David currently resides in Mitchellville, MD with his wife Lorraine; they have two grown children.
