Carol Barlow

Carol Barlow is a Pastoral Counselor who values the spiritual dimension of a client’s life as much as the physical, mental, and emotional dimensions. Her passion is to allow God to work through her, using her clinical training, life experience, and God-given gifts of warmth, gentleness, and compassion to help adult individuals and couples identify self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaving which assists and supports the process of change.

She is licensed by the state of Maryland as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NCC). She has completed a Master of Science degree and Certificate of Advanced Study, both in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Maryland.

Carol’s experience includes: grief counseling at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Millersville, MD; working with military and adult dependents at the Fleet and Family Service Center at Ft. Meade, MD; serving patients with dual diagnoses (substance abuse and a mental disorder), as well as HIV/AIDS, in the methadone clinic at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore; counseling patients on the Sub-Acute Care and Rehabilitation units in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Ft. Howard, MD; helping addicted clients to overcome chemical dependency at the Jones Falls Counseling Center in Baltimore; and providing short- and long-term psychotherapy to patients with mild to severe chronic mental illness in the Community Psychiatry Program at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

In addition to Carol’s work at Safe Harbor, she has a private practice which includes supervising Master’s-level interns from the Pastoral Counseling Program at Loyola College in Maryland.

Carol is committed to a life of prayer and active ministry. Her deep desire is that every counseling session would be an encounter with the mercy and healing power of God.
